Alexander Isak finally responds to Newcastle United supporter who legally changed his name… to…

NewcastleWorld interviewed Toon-daft Killingworth native David White - now known as Alexander Isak - following the Carabao Cup final last year.

Can you remember Alexander Isak? No, not the £125million mercenary who left Newcastle United last summer.

We are, of course, discussing the Killingworth man formerly known as David White. NewcastleWorld had the pleasure of interviewing the 38-year-old after last year’s Carabao Cup final.

Before the game - which saw the Magpies end a 70-year wait for domestic silverware - the Toon fan promised to change his name via deed poll to whoever scored as long as Eddie Howe and Co won.

Dan Burn was on offer as he netted the famous opener but White opted for the more extravagant “Alexander Isak”. In an unfortunate twist, the Swede would desecrate his St James’ Park legacy just a few months later.

The 26-year-old refused to train or play for Newcastle to push through a British record move to Liverpool. In a follow-up interview, White - his name for the purpose of this article - was left reeling by the transfer saga.

He wished for the Anfield switch to “go horribly wrong” - and it could have been much worse for the real Isak in his debut season. The former Toon striker broke his leg and struggled with fitness all season, scoring just three Premier League goals.

A Swedish journalist contacted NewcastleWorld ahead of the World Cup, asking to speak to the man who legally changed his name to their talisman. We obliged, and a clip has now surfaced of White passing on a message to the forward, who scored in his Group F opener against Tunisia.

White bellowed one of Isak’s many terrace chants, before admitting that Newcastle fans no longer like him. He softened the blow by discussing how Andy Cole is now revered despite also leaving under a cloud to join Manchester United.

A final song dedicated to Anthony Elanga, Emil Krafth and Isak appeared to win the Liverpool striker over. He responded: “Legend. That was fun to see, really appreciated.”
