Fabrizio Romano confirms first Man Utd summer exit: “Here we go”

Fabrizio Romano reveals that Manchester United midfielder Casemiro is all set to sign for Inter Miami on a free transfer.

The Brazilian spent the last four campaigns at Old Trafford. But in January, he confirmed he’s leaving at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old decided to waive the option to trigger a one-year renewal, and the management opted against keeping him, mainly for financial reasons, given his £325k-per-week salary.

Casemiro will join Inter Miami on free transfer

While in his mid-thirties, Casemiro enjoyed an Indian summer at Man Utd last season. But despite outpouring cries for ‘one more year’ from his supporters and teammates alike, his future was set in stone, as he ended up bidding Old Trafford farewell at the end of the season.

The former Real Madrid star is currently in North America as part of Brazil’s World Cup squad. On Friday, he played the whole 90 minutes as Carlo Ancelotti’s men secured their first win over the tournament at Haiti’s expense.

The Selecao won the contest in Philadelphia by three unanswered goals, with Matheus Cunha bagging a brace. They raised their tally to four points after two matchdays.

Curiously, this will not be Casemiro’s last North American experience, as he is expected to linger in the United States beyond the summer.

On Saturday, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the experienced midfielder has reached a full agreement to join David Beckham’s Inter Miami.

“Inter Miami complete deal to sign Casemiro as new midfielder, here we go!” posted the Italian journalist on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“Verbal agreement sealed with all parties involved and all formal steps resolved, now waiting to sign and announce the Brazilian. Casemiro wants to play with Messi. Future in MLS.”

Has Casemiro made the right choice?

Based on his levels this season, Casemiro may have had a few more years in the tank at the highest level. After all, he remains an undisputed first choice at Man Utd and the Brazilian national team.

However, the battling midfielder had already conquered the Old Continent during his time at Real Madrid, becoming a five-time Champions League winner.

Although his four-year stint at Old Trafford was disappointing in terms of silverware, he became incredibly fond of the club, proclaiming himself a lifelong MUFC supporter.

Therefore, Casemiro was never going to sign for another Premier League club, so his move to Miami makes perfect sense, as he’ll have the opportunity to experience a new lifestyle while earning lucrative wages.

He will also play alongside Leo Messi, which will be an interesting partnership given their well-illustrated Clásico battles.
