Curtis Jones ‘considers his time at Liverpool over’, with Inter Milan in active negotiations to get him out of Anfield.
Gazzetta dello Sport report that Jones and his agents are pushing for the move to the Serie A side this summer.
Liverpool man a priority
The newspaper explains that Inter have made signing Curtis Jones a priority this summer as they look to refresh their squad, particularly for the Champions League. They value his development in recent years, believing that he has ‘developed all the qualities’ to make him an important addition.
They believe that he’ll raise the bar for the squad, not only in Italy but also in Europe. He’s part of an ambitious summer plan for the club.
A chess match is now underway with Liverpool over their asking price. The Nerazzurri have tabled an offer of around €20m. Liverpool continue to demand €30m.
Inter believe that they’ll move from that price as Jones’ contract is due to expire in a year’s time. they see that as a chance to secure Jones for a lower price. They would like a deal done as early as possible this summer.
Liverpool spell is over
Their efforts are boosted by the fact the midfielder considers his time Liverpool to be over. The 25-year-old knows he is not a part of Andoni Iraola’s plans. He is keen for a new experience in a country other than England.
He’s also reached a broad agreement on the figures and contract duration with Inter. That ‘pre-emptive’ move from the Italians has given them the advantage. The plan is to meet again soon and narrow the gap between asking price and offer.
Inter believe that they have a trump card thanks to Jones agreement. Indeed, they see his recent questioning of Federico Chiesa about Italy as a sign of how much he wants the move.
He is said to be ‘pushing hard’ to get to Milan. All they need to do is find an agreement on price with Liverpool.
