Liverpool have done quick business to get Victor Munoz
Liverpool have made a massive business by bringing Victor Munoz to Anfield. This transfer move has surprised the European transfer market. The Osasuna winger has become the first arrival of Andoni Iraola’s managerial tenure at Liverpool.
As reported by BBC, the Reds have activated the €40m release clause in Munoz’s contract with Osasuna. Osasuna owe 50 percent of that fee to Real Madrid after negotiating a sell-on clause upon his 6 million Euros move in 2025. The 22-year-old forward has appeared to become one of the brightest talents in La Liga. Now the Spanish youngster is set to join the English side in July.
Both parties reached an agreement for the transfer quickly. The Premier League club wanted to avoid any long term transfer negotiation battle. As reported by Yahoo Sports, Munoz has completed his medical tests prior to his move to Liverpool. He has signed a six year contract with the Premier League club until 2032.
Fabrizio Romano has posted on Instagram that the Spanish international is currently in United States with Spain national team for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Liverpool’s medical team was there where Munoz has passed his tests. The Reds have progressed well to complete the final stages of the move.

Andoni Iraola starts his new project with his new signing
Liverpool’s official club statement has confirmed that they have completed the transfer of Victor Munoz from Osasuna. The deal is subjected to successful work permit application and international clearance. The club has said, “The forward, who is currently on World Cup duty with Spain, completed a medical at the country’s base in Tennessee in the USA and has put pen to paper on a long-term contract.”
As reported by Goal, Liverpool had just hired Andoni Iraola as their new head coach earlier this month. Now they have signed Victor Munoz from Osasuna who has become the Spanish coach’s first signing. The 22-year-old’s playstyle fits perfectly with Iraola’s tactical setup.
The Spaniard’s speed, dribbling ability in the final third are brilliant. He is flexible to play in different attacking positions. This will provide the Reds with many options in the attack. The new Liverpool boss starts to set the squad according to his ideas. Munoz also has international experience having played twice for the Spain national team, according to Transfermarkt. He has been included in Spain’s 2026 World Cup squad.
Newcastle United resume their search for new attacking options
The Magpies had selected Munoz as their primary attacking target. Munoz would have joined as the replacement of Anthony Gordon, who has joined Barcelona for €80m, according to Transfermarkt. The club had already started advanced talks for a potential transfer. But then Liverpool hijacked the deal and activated his release clause.
This overturned the situation very fast. By paying the release clause, the Merseyside club avoided any kind of negotiations. Consequently, Newcastle will have to begin their search for a left sided attacker again.
