One of the biggest storylines that took place this past offseason involved Las Vegas Raiders’ star edge rusher, Maxx Crosby. Prior to the new league year beginning, the Raiders pulled off a trade agreement with the Baltimore Ravens that would send Crosby to Baltimore in exchange for two first-round picks.
A lot of people had thought that Baltimore gave up a lot for Crosby, but the Ravens were getting a proven playmaker to add to their defense. Then at the last minute, the Ravens backed out of the trade and then before you know it, they signed Trey Hendrickson to a four-year deal. That who situation created a ton of conversation and the Ravens took a lot of heat for it.
The Buffalo Bills were in need for an edge rusher themselves, and when that trade fell through, Bills fans were calling for Brandon Beane to pull off a trade to land Crosby in Western New York. However, that clearly didn’t happen as Crosby is still with the Raiders and the Bills ended up signing Bradley Chubb in free agency.
While Crosby is still a Raider at this moment, it would not be a surprise if the Raiders do end up trading him at some point during the 2026 season, especially if Las Vegas continues to lose games. Crosby only has so many prime year left, and no one could blame him for wanting to be on a contending team.
Bills fans just have to hope that even though it’s unlikely that he would land in Buffalo, that he doesn’t land on a team that could give the Bills major problems.
Maxx Crosby-to-Patriots proposed trade gives Bills major nightmare setup
Moe Moton from Bleacher Report went ahead and listed early bold predictions during the 2026 season and one of them was the Patriots trading for Crosby, which would give the Bills a huge obstacle to overcome in the division, let alone in the conference.
"The New England Patriots may seek help for their pass rush in the second half of the upcoming campaign. They allowed K'Lavon Chaisson to walk in free agency. According to ESPN'sMike Reiss, Harold Landry III underwent offseason knee surgery." said Moton.
"New England can offer Las Vegas its 2027 first-rounder, 2028 second-rounder and a player to jump-start trade discussions for Crosby." Moton added.
Now, if the Patriots were willing to part ways with a 2027 1st-round pick, that would mean that they would be without a potential first round pick until 2029, since they traded their 2028 1st-round pick to acquire A.J. Brown from the Philadelphia Eagles. At the same time, a draft pick doesn’t mean anything unless the player produces.
If New England was to land both Brown and Crosby, all while having Drake Maye on a rookie deal, the Bills’ path to take back the AFC East and make a serious run in the playoffs would face a lot of disruption.
Crosby is a game-changer and the Bills would have to worry about him chasing down Josh Allen. With Buffalo looking to take back the division, the last thing that they need to worry about it is New England getting stronger.
