“It’s practically almost all done” - FIFA World Cup star confirms he is close to joining Manchester United

Brazil international Ederson, who is currently playing at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has confirmed that his move to Manchester United is nearly 'all done'. The Red Devils have reportedly reached an agreement with Serie A outfit Atalanta to sign Ederson for £35 million.

With Casemiro having left Manchester United and Manuel Ugarte expected to follow suit this summer, Michael Carrick and Co. are keen on bolstering their midfield. While Ederson was recently called up to Brazil's squad for the FIFA World Cup as a replacement for the injured Wesley, the former confirmed that the deal was almost done.

The 26-year-old told Tuttosport (via mufcmpb):

Ederson has impressed at Atalanta over the past four seasons, with the central midfielder garnering 16 goals and six assists in 180 appearances across all competitions, helping them win the Europa League. Additionally, he has earned four caps for the Brazil national team, recently featuring during their FIFA World Cup 3-0 win over Haiti (June 19) as a late substitute.

Manchester United remain interested in other midfielders too, including Adam Wharton, Elliot Anderson, and Mateus Fernandes.

Manchester United interested in signing £130m duo despite one star being omitted from Portugal's FIFA World Cup squad: Reports

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United are interested in signing Premier League stars Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville for up to £130 million this summer. This report arrived despite Fernandes' omission from Portugal's FIFA World Cup squad due to their world-class depth in midfield.

Following West Ham United's relegation to the Championship, both Fernandes and Summerville are expected to leave the club this summer. Romano recently revealed the Red Devils' interest, stating (via TEAMtalk):

"There are two clubs pushing from England, and he is an idea for [Real] Madrid. Mateus Fernandes is Portuguese, and Jose Mourinho has indicated his name as one of the options considered in midfield. But from England, the clubs are way more aggressive financially – they want to do the deal as soon as possible."

He added:

"Man Utd are pushing in talks with the agent of the player, and they are also pushing in talks with West Ham to try and find the solution. They also have an interest in Crysencio Summerville, the winger from West Ham."

Summerville is currently representing the Netherlands at the FIFA World Cup. Both stars impressed last season and could be excellent signings for Manchester United.
