Manchester United want to add more quality in the middle of the park, and they are interested in signing Borussia Dortmund star Felix Nmecha.
The 25-year-old impressed last season and was outstanding in Germany’s opening World Cup game as well. The midfielder managed to get on the scoresheet and helped Germany control the game from the middle of the park.
Man United scouting Felix Nmecha
Manchester United scouts have been closely monitoring the player and are impressed by his displays. It remains to be seen whether Manchester United follow up on their interest with an official offer to sign the player at the end of the season.
According to Football Insider, they are looking at other central midfielders as well, and the German is not currently their top priority.
Pete O’Rourke claimed: “He’s somebody that Man United are well aware of, and we know they’re going to undergo a big midfield restructure.
“Casemiro has left, and there are doubts about Manuel Ugarte’s long-term future at Old Trafford as well, so Nmecha is somebody who Man United have been looking at.
“The United scouting team have been keeping tabs on him, and he started the World Cup with a strong performance for Germany, which will have impressed his suitors.
“He had a good season for Dortmund last year as well, with five goals and three assists in 42 games, and he’s a player who would fit the profile for United, but I don’t think he’s their top target.”

Nmecha could fancy an England return
The 25-year-old has come through the academy at Manchester City, and the opportunity to play in England could be exciting for him.
His former club, Manchester City, are also keeping tabs on his situation, and they could look to make a move in the summer. The opportunity to play in the Premier League will be tempting for the German international, and it remains to be seen which of the two Manchester clubs is willing to pay up for him.
Manchester United lacks depth in the middle of the park and has been linked with multiple central midfielders. Casemiro has already left the club, and Manuel Ugarte has been linked with an exit as well. They are thought to be closing in on the capture of Atalanta’s Ederson dos Santos, and signing Nmecha would be ideal as well. If they can add a specialist defensive midfielder to that, it could be a really successful window for them.
