Manchester United could be about to miss out on Mateus Fernandes, with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly close to agreeing personal terms with the midfielder.
The Reds had been considered the favourites for the 21‐year‐old, with West Ham United reportedly standing firm on an £80million price tag.
But it was claimed on Saturday night that Spurs have emerged as serious contenders, and discussions are understood to have advanced positively.
While Ederson has confirmed that a move to Manchester United is ‘almost all sorted’. United agreed a deal with Atalanta earlier this month to sign the midfielder, who looks set to become the first signing of the Michael Carrick era at Old Trafford.
Sandro Tonali has also been linked with a move to Old Trafford, and Newcastle United are prepared to sell the midfielder this summer as long as their valuation is met.
And United have also been told they would be stupid to sell Marcus Rashford to Arsenal – even though they need to cash in on the forward this summer.
