A Mateus Fernandes bidding war could be on the cards

**West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes is a man in demand this summer with some of Europe’s biggest clubs interested.**

Real Madrid, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur have all been linked with the Portugal international.

At the moment, United and Tottenham are well and truly in the race. Some rumours suggest Fernandes’ representatives are close to agreeing terms with the North Londoners, and he’s said to be up for joining them.

However, since the window opened, everything has suggested he wants to link up with his namesake, Bruno Fernandes, at his ‘dream club’, Manchester United.

The Hammers want £85m for the midfielder, which might sound optimistic, but with the hype around him and the number of teams interested, a fee close to that could be achievable.

No one has officially bid yet, despite reports of a £75 million bid rejected by United, but if that is their first offer, then we could end up getting the £85m we want, which would be unbelievable.

If I had to make a prediction, I think Mateus Fernandes will end up joining Manchester United for a fee of around the £75-80 million mark, + add-ons to bring it up to £85 million.

Ideally, us Hammers fans would like to see him leave the Premier League and sign for a giant like PSG or Real Madrid. However, as long as he doesn’t sign for Tottenham, we’d be okay with it.

Daniel Kretinsky simply can’t start his reign by selling our best player to one of our biggest rivals.
