Gary Neville and David Beckham continue to make moves as the new season approaches.

The Manchester United legends still have influence on the Red Devils. Away from United, though, both players continue to have an influence on other clubs, too.

One of these clubs is Salford City who play in League Two currently.

The Ammies, who are co-owned by Neville and Beckham, narrowly missed out on promotion last season, missing out on automatic promotion on the last day of the season whilst also losing in the play-off final.

With the club looking to put the disappointments of last season behind him, Salford will look to use the transfer window to their advantage.

Both Gary Neville and David Beckham will have a big influence on this given their position within the club currently.

Now, the club have made their first signing of the summer transfer window with the Ammies announcing that Joe Powell has signed for the club on a two-year basis following the expiry of his contract at Rotherham United.

Speaking to the club media, via the official Salford City website, Powell stated: “I’m over the moon to get started, I’m looking forward to the season and hopefully some very good things to come.

“When I sat down with the Club we had a good chat, and our ambitions aligned.

“I’ve got a lot to give, hopefully I can put that on show. You can expect to see a lot of desire, a lot of passion.

“I’ll cover every blade of grass that I can, and on top of that I can bring quality with the final pass, breaking the lines, some long distance shots, so hopefully I can bring a bit of excitement.

“There seems to be a good depth in the squad at the minute already where I can receive balls with quality, and also give the quality to the players in the final third.

“We’ve got some very, very good players that I’m looking forward to playing with and making good things happen with.”

Joe Powell played 30 games for Rotherham United in League One last season, providing four assists.

He has previously played for Burton Albion, Northampton Town, and West Ham United, having come through the Hammers youth set-up.

The midfielder will now join up with the rest of the Salford City camp ahead of the preparation for next season.
