"Don't Forget The Name" - Romano Suggests That Liverpool Have Yan Diomande Alternative Lined Up

Liverpool are still interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, in which he also provided an update on the club’s pursuit of Yan Diomande, Romano hinted that the Reds may still change their plans and pursue the France international instead:

“Don’t forget the name of Bradley Barcola for Liverpool. Don’t forget him.”

Barcola could reportedly be on the market this summer, with talks over a new contract having stalled.

PSG may only sell him to Liverpool if they get Diomande

In what is a very complicated situation, it appears as if the European champions are pursuing the Reds’ top target due to uncertainties over Barcola’s future.

From the outside looking in, the futures of the two players look intertwined. If Diomande does end up making the switch to the Parc des Princes, it would open the door to Barcola leaving before the end of the transfer window.

Barcola won’t be much cheaper

Liverpool have already had a €90m (£78m) bid (plus €10m/£8.7m in add-ons) turned down by Leipzig for Diomande. It has been claimed that the Bundesliga side are holding out for an offer in the €120m (£104m) to €130m (£113m) range.

Trusted sources have claimed that PSG value Barcola at a similar amount, so whichever player sporting director Richard Hughes ends up pursuing, there won’t be a great deal of difference in terms of price.

Some would argue that Diomande would be a better fit than Barcola due to their preferred positions. The Ivorian is said to be keen on playing on the right wing, while the Frenchman would favour the opposite flank. With the main objective being to replace Mo Salah, Diomande seems the right choice on paper.
