Manchester United are holding direct “talks” with West Ham in an attempt to sign both Mateus Fernandes and Crysencio Summerville, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said that Michael Carrick’s team are seeking to find common ground on a transfer fee for Fernandes, while conversations are also ongoing about Summerville:

“My understanding is that Manchester United are pushing in talks with the agent of the player and are also pushing in talks with West Ham to try to find the solution. So Manchester United are on it. ”

“They also have an interest in Crysencio Summerville, the winger from West Ham. So Man United keep asking about Summerville and keep working on a deal for Mateus Fernandes.”

West Ham have set their asking prices for both players

The pair have had their valuations made public. Fernandes is on the market for between £80m and £85m, while Summerville is available for £50m.

Considering what other midfielders are going for, the Irons will feel justified in staying firm on their price tag for Fernandes. They may be chancing their arm a bit with Summerville, but his performances at the World Cup for the Netherlands will help their case.

There is a lot of interest in Fernandes and Summerville

Another factor that plays into the hands of Nuno Espirito Santo’s side is the sheer number of clubs who want the two players.

As well as Manchester United, Fernandes is attracting interest from Tottenham, Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, while Summerville is said to be on the radar of Roma, AC Milan, Newcastle, Aston Villa and Everton.
