Liverpool are set to make a second bid for Yan Diomande to improve on their opening offer of €100 million, with the winger preferring to leave RB Leipzig.
Diomande gained even more admirers as his driven cross laid on the opening goal for the Ivory Coast in their 2-1 defeat to Germany on Saturday.
The 19-year-old’s performances at the World Cup are only increasing the interest around his future, but Liverpool remain in pole position to land a deal.
That comes with an offer of €90 million plus €10 million in add-ons already tabled, and though that was turned down, Leipzig can expect an improved bid in the coming days.
Liverpool’s plan to submit another bid is covered by the Times‘ Paul Joyce, while transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has described their pursuit as “very aggressive.”

Writing on X, Romano claimed that while Leipzig are hoping to tie their No. 49 down to a new contract with a release clause for next summer, Diomande “prefers to leave now.”
“Liverpool will bid again for Yan Diomande, there is no doubt. I can confirm, Liverpool will be back to the table of negotiations,” he explained on YouTube.
“They are pushing on the player side. Behind the scenes, Liverpool are trying their best in terms of a financial proposal and the project to get the player on their side 100 percent.”
Romano added: “Game after game, day after day, it’s even more difficult to keep Yan Diomande at [Leipzig].
“It’s going to be a big proposal coming from Liverpool in order to try change the situation.
“Liverpool are working on the player side, in terms of salary and project, and on the club side with Leipzig, working hard to get this deal done.”
Leipzig are reported to value Diomande at €130 million (£112.7m) which is a vast increase on Liverpool’s opening offer, but there is a sense the two clubs could reach a compromise.
That would likely be the case if the player himself makes his desire to leave clear, with Diomande telling reporters earlier this week that he would be open to a move to the Premier League.

“I’m an RB Leipzig player, but why not? My agents will sort that out,” he said after the Ivory Coast’s 1-0 win over Ecuador.
“As for me, I’m more focused on the World Cup, that’s the most important thing. It doesn’t happen all the time, it’s every four years, so I’m making the most of it.
“As for all the rest, we’ll see.”
The Ivory Coast are not in action again until Thursday when they face Curacao, with it possible that progress is made over Diomande’s future at club level in the meantime.
