Foot Mercato claims that the Gunners have joined the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Tottenham in pursuing the Netherlands international.

Summerville is not exactly the household name that some were hoping for as Mikel Arteta’s side look to strengthen the left flank, and fans on X are not enthusiastic in the slightest:

waaaaay overpriced. The winger market is cooked

We’ve seen him play in the prem. Hes not good. Do not let WC performances change that

Not exactly level raiser winger that u want for your LW… He is decent as a squad player but i don't think Arsenal would go for him unless he's available for a bargain fee

I don't think this guy outscores Martinelli in a season, No thanks

Summerville’s asking price is skyrocketing

Prior to the World Cup, it was reported that West Ham would be looking to sell the Dutchman for around £30m.

After his goal against Japan in the Netherlands’ opening group stage game, the price shot up to £50m.

When you look at his goal return for the Hammers, you can’t help but think he is considerably overpriced. He has scored 8 times in 56 appearances over the last two seasons.

Arsenal do have other (better) targets on their shortlist

Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is thought to be among the names most prominent on Andrea Berta’s list of targets.

The France international is stalling on a new contract, and he could be on the market this summer, but PSG would need to replace him, and he would not be available on the cheap either.

Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers is also under consideration, although there is a good chance that he will cost just as much as Barcola.

The Gunners have also been given the chance to sign Christos Tzolis, who could be available for €40m (£35m), but the Greek international is deemed a lower priority, who would be brought in as a squad option rather than to be a regular starter.
