Joe Burrow has built a reputation around composure and precision on the field. Off the field, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback is just as known for his dry, deadpan sense of humor, and one old comment of his is making the rounds online again this week.
The comment originally came from Netflix’s docuseries “Quarterback,” which followed Burrow during the 2024 season. In the series, Burrow is seen casually chatting with teammates Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins about random topics, including boats and Australian wildlife.

That clip has resurfaced again, and Burrow’s honest assessment of boating has gone viral in a second time, pulling in hundreds of thousands of views within hours of being reposted.
“If you go on a boat, you’re committed, like you’re there for hours,”Burrow said. “I like a boat for like 45 minutes, but then after 45 minutes, I’m like, ‘Okay, like, I’ve seen it all.’ We’re on the water.”
The remark came during a roughly one-minute segment Netflix’s sports account described as Burrow “yapping about boats, iguanas, lizards, and Australia” with Chase and Higgins. The wide receiver duo can be seen laughing throughout the exchange as Burrow lays out his exact timeline for losing interest on the water.
Social media users flooded the comments in agreement, with many writing “He’s 100% right” and joking that “the best days of a boat are the day you buy it and the day you sell it.” Others pushed back lightly in defense of boating, though the overall tone stayed lighthearted rather than divisive.
Burrow has become one of the NFL’s more frequently quoted personalities off the field, regularly appearing on shows like “The Dan Patrick Show,” “Pardon My Take” and “The Big Podcast With Shaq.” His Netflix season alone produced multiple viral moments, including his comments on receiver Chase and his approach to reading opposing defenses.
Joe Burrow Offseason and Team USA Aspirations
Burrow’s offseason has carried more weight than usual. He is under contract through 2029 with a fully guaranteed cap hit of roughly $48 million in 2026, numbers that came under scrutiny after Cincinnati finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for a second straight season.
Burrow has also been active in offseason events unrelated to traditional football. He competed in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic in March, an event tied to flag football’s Olympic debut in 2028. Burrow has said publicly he wants to represent Team USA in Los Angeles if given the opportunity.
Burrow had one of the best statistical seasons in Bengals history in 2024, throwing for 4,918 yards and 43 touchdowns. As the Bengals prepare for training camp, Burrow’s boat take remains one of the most relatable things he’s said in a while, even if it has nothing to do with football.
