After Ederson & Fernandes: Real Madrid transfer twist could help Man Utd build a dream midfield

Manchester United are preparing for one of the most important midfield rebuilds in recent memory.

The Red Devils have already reached an agreement with Atalanta to sign Ederson next month.

Mateus Fernandes is also widely expected to arrive at Old Trafford despite fierce competition from several elite European clubs.

Casemiro will leave United at the end of this month. Manuel Ugarte could also be offloaded after failing to impress over the last 24 months.

Should Ugarte depart, United may need to recruit a third midfielder to complete the overhaul.

In our view, INEOS should seriously consider making a statement signing from La Liga.

Real Madrid are reportedly open to a significant sale in midfield, with one of Aurelien Tchouameni or Eduardo Camavinga potentially heading for the exit.

New Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is believed to be keen on keeping Tchouameni.

However, the final decision may not rest entirely in his hands after Tchouameni’s dressing room altercation with Federico Valverde.

The Uruguayan is one of the key players at Madrid, and club insiders may prefer to retain him and cash in on Tchouameni.

The French international is a defensive midfielder by trade. He is a ball-winner and would be a serious upgrade over Casemiro.

He could cover every blade of grass before playing the ball forward to more creative players.

The second option is to sign Camavinga.

The 23-year-old has no intention of leaving Los Blancos, but Mourinho does not view him as an untouchable member of the squad.

Camavinga is a duel winner, similar to Tchouameni. However, he has the ability to carry the ball forward and also play key forward passes.

If INEOS can secure Ederson and Fernandes before landing either Tchouameni or Camavinga, they would complete a midfield transformation capable of serving the club for the next five years.

Such a rebuild could provide United head coach Michael Carrick with one of the strongest and most balanced midfield units in the Premier League.
