Chelsea have reportedly stepped up their pursuit of AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan, with fresh reports claiming the Premier League club has opened discussions with the France international’s representatives ahead of a potential summer move.
The Blues are believed to be exploring the market for goalkeeping reinforcements as they continue their squad rebuild under manager Enzo Maresca. While Chelsea already possess several options between the posts, speculation surrounding Maignan has intensified in recent days, with the AC Milan star emerging as one of the club’s leading targets.
Maignan has established himself as one of Europe’s most highly regarded goalkeepers during his time in Serie A. Since joining AC Milan from Lille in 2021, the stopper has played a crucial role in the Rossoneri’s domestic and European campaigns, earning praise for his shot-stopping ability, command of the penalty area and distribution from the back.
According to reports, CHELSEA have held initial talks with the goalkeeper’s agent to assess the possibility of a deal. While no agreement has been reached and formal negotiations with AC Milan are yet to progress significantly, the discussions are understood to represent Chelsea’s strongest indication yet of their interest in the French international.
The London club’s recruitment team is believed to view Maignan as a player capable of bringing both experience and leadership to a relatively young squad.
His pedigree at the highest level, including regular appearances in the UEFA Champions League and with the French national team, is thought to be particularly attractive to decision-makers at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea’s current goalkeeping situation has been the subject of debate over the past two seasons. Although Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic have both featured prominently, reports suggest the club remains open to strengthening the position should a top-class option become available.

For now, discussions remain at an exploratory stage, but CHELSEA‘s reported contact with the player’s camp suggests the club is seriously evaluating the possibility of bringing Maignan to Stamford Bridge.
