Man Utd Are Set To Beat City In Race To Sign 'One Of The Hottest Attacking Prospects In The Country'

Man Utd are “set to sign” Derby County striker Blake Henry, according to reports.

The teenager is still only 14 but he has attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs after scoring 45 goals at youth level last season.

Manchester Evening News (MEN) report that Henry was also on the radar of Manchester City, but it is believed that the Red Devils are favourites to secure the youngster’s signature.

Due to his age, there are several hurdles that will have to be safely negotiated before a deal is finalised.

Derby are due compensation for training Henry, and if a fee is not amicably agreed between the two clubs, a tribunal will decide how much the Championship side should receive.

Henry is playing well beyond his years

Despite not turning 15 until mid-November, the forward has already made two appearances for Derby in the Under-18 Premier League.

Henry came on for the final 10 minutes of the 2-2 draw against Sunderland in January, and he was also sent on as a substitute in the 3-0 defeat to Stoke City back in March.

MEN have described him as “one of the hottest attacking prospects in the country”, and that is demonstrated by the fact that he has played for England at Under-15 level.

Henry has played in four friendlies against Cyprus, the USA, Croatia and South Korea since the beginning of 2026.

He could follow the path of another Man Utd teen prodigy

While he has played a couple of matches for the Under-18s, there is still some way to go in Henry’s development.

If he does make the switch to Manchester, he could potentially follow in the footsteps of another very promising talent, JJ Gabriel, who played for the Red Devils in the FA Youth Cup at the age of 15 last season.
