Earlier this month, Marc Cucurella left Chelsea and completed a permanent move to Real Madrid.
The Spain international’s exit will see the Blues to look for a new left-back and the focus is on Juventus’ Andrea Cambiaso.
On June 16th, we relayed news that Chelsea identified the Italy international as the top-class replacement for Cucurella. There was also mention of Barcelona’s interest in the player, valued at €40m by Juve.
A day later, Sport Witness covered claims of the Blues making an attempt to sign the 26-year-old.
They also received a boost as the La Liga winners ruled out making an approach for him this summer.
Chelsea working on reducing gap
The Premier League side are keen on bringing him to Stamford Bridge and have decided to make a ‘decisive move’.
That’s according to Sport Mediaset, who claims Chelsea made a direct contact with the Serie A side for Andrea Cambiaso.
The Turin club value him at €40m and Xabi Alonso’s side haven’t met that price. Instead, the Blues are willing to reach €25m plus €5m bonuses.
There’s a €10m gap and the discussions are ongoing between the two clubs, to reach an agreement for the transfer.
Sport Mediaset states the Old Lady have to raise funds to balance their books before June 30th.

The Italian club have failed to qualify for the Champions League, after finishing sixth, two points behind fourth placed Como, and this impacts their finances.

The Italian has a contract until 2029, and his value, as per Transfermarkt, is €20m. The highest value was €40m in December 2024.
