Tottenham step forward for midfielder after Arsenal pause – De Zerbi pushing transfer

Manu Kone initially attracted attention from Arsenal, and Tottenham are now in the picture for the midfielder.

Over the past two weeks, Sport Witness have covered the Gunners’ interest in the Frenchman. They initiated contact with his entourage, who have been chasing interest.

Arsenal even reached an agreement over personal terms with Kone. AS Roma were then waiting for them to make a formal move.

This is because of their financial situation. They have to make sales by the end of June and Kone is a candidate to leave.

After Arsenal, it is Tottenham who are in line for a possible move.

De Zerbi is a fan of midfielder

Corriere della Sera take a deeper look at Kone’s future, which could yet lie away from Rome.

The next week or so is seen as decisive in the Giallorossi’s transfer window. This is not just because of the FFP deadline but also because new sporting director Tony D’Amico will formally take charge from today.

Atletico Madrid have stepped forward for Kone, offering €45m. The midfielder has rejected the move, as the Frenchman and his entourage are also touching base with English clubs.

Arsenal have found ‘complete openness’ to execute a deal but haven’t spoken to Roma yet. This has given an opportunity to Tottenham, who have also made initial enquiries.

This is mainly because of Roberto De Zerbi, who is a big fan of the midfielder.

Kone wouldn’t be against the idea of a move to Tottenham, despite their absence in Europe next season.
