Manchester United have no interest in selling Benjamin Sesko after reports in Spain suggested he was on a shortlist to replace Robert Lewandowski.

Spanish newspaper Marca said Sesko was one of the options Barcelona were considering as they seek to sign a new striker this summer, with Lewandowski leaving the Nou Camp after four years at the club.

Barcelona have been pushing to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid, but are yet to strike a deal for the Argentine attacker and are now running the rule of potential alternatives.

According to Marca, Sesko and Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy feature on that list, while there has also been a suggestion Atletico could turn to Sesko if Alvarez does leave.

But United are giving those reports short shrift and have no intention of selling the Slovenian after one season at Old Trafford.

Sesko joined the club for £73million from RB Leipzig last summer and after a slow start he had an excellent second half of the season, finishing with 12 goals in 32 appearances, including 11 in the Premier League at one every 149 minutes.

United were delighted with the impact the 23-year-old made in his first season at the club and see him as their long-term No. 9 after Rasmus Hojlund completed a permanent move to Napoli for £38million.

Sesko featured in all but one of the 31 Premier League games he was available for last season, but he started just 17 times and began only six of Michael Carrick's 17 games in charge. Carrick struck up a good rapport with the striker, as did first-team coach Travis Binnion, with Sesko spending time doing individual work on the training ground to improve his game.

Seven of his 12 goals last season came after Carrick was appointed to replace Ruben Amorim in January and he is line to play a more prominent role next season.
