Isaac Kearney was sent a special message from Victor Munoz after it was confirmed that the Spanish star had signed to Liverpool.

Isaac was born with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects development and means he progresses at a slower rate than other children his age. His parents, Melissa and Alan, have used social media to highlight Isaac’s day-to-day life and raise awareness of the condition, building a following of almost two million on TikTok, where viewers regularly send messages of support to the family. As a result, Isaac has become widely recognized among Liverpool supporters.

Munoz is heading to Liverpool, after the Reds hijacked Newcastle United’s attempts to sign him from Osasuna. The Reds are understood to have met his $46 million (€40m) release clause, with the move set to be completed following his involvement with Spain at the World Cup, before he links up with Andoni Iraola’s side.

Isaac posted a welcome message for Munoz on Instagram which was later noticed by the 22-year-old. He commented: "Thanks a lot for the welcome, my friend; see you soon. Sending you a big hug" followed by strong arm and red heart emoji.

Munoz missed Spain’s World Cup opener, a goalless draw against Cape Verde, and remains unavailable for their second group match against Saudi Arabia. The winger was ruled out in the build-up after suffering a muscular injury while recovering from a separate issue in training.

A statement from the RFEF said: "During the scheduled and individualized recovery process, an additional muscle injury has occurred that will delay his return to competition. His availability for the upcoming matches will depend on the evolution of his symptoms."

Despite currently carrying an injury, Liverpool has not been deterred from pursuing a move for Munoz, with the former Real Madrid youngster continuing to attract strong interest and earning widespread praise for his performances and potential.

"Last season, Munoz was one of the revelations in La Liga," Spanish soccer writer Ruairidh Barlow told Liverpool.com . "After some good early form, people started to sit up and take notice, and he's seen as a rising star.

"Before Liverpool, Sunderland tried to buy him, and then Newcastle United this summer. He was also tipped as a potential alternative to Marcus Rashford for Barcelona.

"He's seen as one of Spain's primary rising talents. With wide players capable of beating a defender in high demand, he's one of the few players who can feasibly look like an alternative to Nico Williams on the left side.

"Whatever doubts you have about Munoz are mitigated by the fact that it's Iraola taking charge of him. Iraola loves pace out wide, and his wingers tend to thrive. They have a very clear brief to stretch the game, to drive at defenders, and to press aggressively, and those are all things Munoz does and can do."
