"Understand..."- Reliable journalist drops key new update about Liverpool signing Yan Diomande

**Liverpool continue to be heavily linked with a summer move for Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande, with reliable journalist Ben Jacobs now giving a new update.**

The 19-year-old remains the Reds’ top attacking target ahead of the 2026/27 season, and he is showing his potential at the 2026 World Cup currently.

Liverpool have already seen a big-money bid for Diomande rejected by Leipzig, as they look to hold out for over £100m for his services.

Now, Jacobs has taken to [_X_](https://x.com/JacobsBen/status/2068766903464530236?s=20) to provide the latest on the situation, claiming the figures in the Reds’ offer for him were slightly different than have been reported:

_“Understand Liverpool’s bid for Yan Diomande was actually €80m+€20m not €90m+€10m, as originally thought. Liverpool view Diomande as a priority, while PSG could bid as well. Optimism player wants to join. Yet if Leipzig don’t engage over a sale, Liverpool are also prepared to move on to other targets._

_“Said El Mala, Yankuba Minteh and Matias Fernandez-Pardo among them, while Bradley Barcola appreciated. Diomande not expected to be a drawn out saga, as was the case with Alexander Isak 12 months ago. Liverpool waited all summer for Isak due to more complicated circumstances (Newcastle incomings influenced timeline), and knowing his form, peak age and status as a proven Premier League goalscorer all supported that waiting tactic._

_“This window, there is urgency to add in wide areas and as a result Liverpool are not planning for Diomande pursuit to run into August. The €80m+€20m offer was pretty swiftly rejected and Liverpool are now assessing whether Leipzig are prepared to engage.”_

**Will Liverpool beat PSG to Yan Diomande signing?**

----------------------------------------------------

Diomande is a stunning young talent with pace to burn and plenty of end product in his game already, so it is easy to see why Liverpool are so keen to sign him this summer.

Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be providing stern competition for the Ivorian, however, which will be causing some concern at Anfield.

But hopefully, Diomande thinks something special could brew under new Liverpool head coach Andoni Iraola, backing himself to be Mohamed Salah’s heir.

As Jacobs points out, though, if Leipzig don’t budge, the Reds won’t hang around for too long, looking at alternative wide options instead.

It would be a shame to miss out on Diomande, however, considering he has the potential to mature into a world-class attacking player over time.
