Arteta told time to get deal done and let£40M star leave Arsenal! Fans wont be happy!

Former Arsenal striker Alan Smith has reportedly urged the club to consider selling Ethan Nwaneri this summer, adding fresh fuel to speculation surrounding the future of one of the Gunners’ most highly-rated academy graduates.

According to recent reports, Smith believes Arsenal could face a difficult decision regarding the 19-year-old attacker as manager Mikel Arteta continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new season.

While Nwaneri remains one of the brightest talents to emerge from the club’s Hale End academy in recent years, questions have been raised over whether he can secure the regular first-team football needed to continue his development.

Nwaneri spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille after finding opportunities limited at the Emirates Stadium. Although he showed flashes of his talent in France, reports suggest his loan spell failed to provide the consistent breakthrough many had expected.

Interest in the England Under-21 international has nevertheless remained strong, with several Premier League and European clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.

Smith’s reported comments centre on the financial realities facing modern clubs. With academy graduates representing pure profit under profitability and sustainability regulations, Arsenal could be tempted by a substantial offer should one arrive.

The former Gunners forward is said to have acknowledged Nwaneri’s immense potential but suggested the club may need to make difficult decisions to fund further additions to Arteta’s squad.

The rumours arrive at a time when Arsenal are expected to be active in the transfer market. The Premier League champions continue to pursue reinforcements in several positions, and player sales could prove crucial in balancing the books while maintaining compliance with financial regulations.

Reports have already linked several squad members with possible departures, with Nwaneri among the names attracting external interest, Alan Smith told BestBettingSites.co.uk: “As an academy product, it’s pure profit, isn’t it? And he hasn’t had much of a sniff at all and then went out on loan.

“I think as a manager, as a club, you’re always a bit reluctant to let a talent like that go who you’ve nurtured, but with the financial regulations it could free up money to buy elsewhere.

“So we’ll see on that. But the player himself might feel that he could do with a move if he feels the gaffer doesn’t really have trust in him.”

For now, no decision has been made regarding Nwaneri’s future. However, with transfer interest growing and Arsenal weighing their summer plans, the teenager’s situation is expected to remain one of the most closely watched storylines at the Emirates in the coming weeks.
