Carlisle United have announced Rob Elliot’s third summer signing as he attempts to build a promotion-winning side. His second signing is the former Forest Green man Harvey Bunker on a two-year deal once his contract expires at the end of this month with The Rovers.
Harvey Bunker
The 23-year-old, as stated before, will join the Blues on a two-year deal once his contract expires later this month. Harvey, who started his career at Forest Green Rovers’ youth academy, signed a permanent contract with the club back in 2020 when FGR were still a League Two outfit. He would make 149 appearances for the club and score 11 goals.
During his time at the Rovers, he would also be loaned out to Chippenham Town, Weymouth and Scunthorpe United during his early start to his footballing career. Harvey also scored against the Blues last season when Carlisle beat Robbie Savage’s side by four goals to two.
Rob Elliot had this to say about his third signing
““Harvey is an exciting young player. He has had experience in higher divisions in League One and League Two and obviously knows the National League well.
“I still think the best is yet to come from him. He can play in a couple of positions in midfield and at the back. I think he’s someone who brings great physicality and technicality.
“He’s a great lad. He wants to be here. I feel like he sets the right tone in terms of young, aggressive players who want to get better personally and at Carlisle.”
No Comment by Marc Teirny but Jacob Blain, the Recruitment Analyst had this to say:
“Harvey was a key target for us as we entered the summer window, and we managed to act quickly to get a deal agreed despite interest from other clubs.
“It was clear from meeting Harvey how hungry he is to progress in his career and succeed at Brunton Park. After sitting down with him and Rob explaining how he fits into his plans, it was evident that he wanted to be part of it.
“I’d also like to thank his representatives for their role in helping to get the deal over the line.”
