Elliot Anderson has 'agreed personal terms' with Manchester City
Manchester United have been dealt a hammer blow in their pursuit of Nottingham Forest star Elliot Anderson by local rivals Manchester City.
Anderson, 23, is currently stateside with the England squad - who will continue their quest for a second World Cup win on Tuesday evening as they face Ghana in Boston. However, Anderson has headed to the tournament with his future in the air.
After impressing in the middle of the park for Forest, Anderson has been linked to a number of of top clubs - but City seem to be the frontrunners for a deal that would shatter the British transfer record.

Transfer journalist Nicolo Schira has already claimed Anderson has agreed personal terms with City, and has now posted: "Man City want to sign Elliot Anderson and are set to submit a new bid (around €135-140M) to Nottingham Forest to try to close the deal.
"Already agreed personal terms for a contract until 2031 with the midfielder, who pushing to join #MCFC as soon as possible."
United had been linked with the star as they look to bolster their midfield options - especially with the departure of Casemiro this summer.

Speaking about the links, Harry Maguire said: "I’ve heard there are many clubs abroad after him as well. He’s got absolutely everything. He reminds me of Declan Rice in some aspects in terms of his profile.”
According to reports, Forest have rejected two bids, including one worth more than £120m, with £106m up front. However, City are said to be hopeful that £130m could tempt Forest to part ways with the star.
Speaking about his performance against Croatia, speaking on ITV, Patrick Vieira said: “Anderson had everything that I like about the holding midfielder because he is really aggressive, and he’s a ball winner.
