Trey Nyoni is considered “ready to take the next step” by those within Liverpool, which could lead the 18-year-old midfielder to leave on loan this summer.
Nyoni made 14 appearances for Liverpool’s first team last season, but only two of those came as a starter – both in the Carabao Cup.
Along with his outings with the U21s and as captain of the U19s, the teenager played a total of 25 games with 1,125 minutes on the pitch in all competitions.
While training day in, day out with the senior squad will have aided Nyoni’s development, it is clear that his progress would be accelerated by more game time.

Academy director Alex Inglethorpe believes the midfielder is “ready to take the next step,” as part of his long-term development into a first-team regular at Liverpool.
“Watching Trey train, he looks ever so comfortable in that first-team environment,” he told The Athletic‘s James Pearce.
“There has to be juncture where you go from training every day with them to turning that into minutes on the pitch, and that’s where he’s at now.

“He’s shown patience and he’s ready to take the next step next season.
“I’ve got every confidence that Trey will go on to play a lot of games for this club.”
There is a chance that next step comes with a more prominent role with Liverpool, and Nyoni could look to make an impression on Andoni Iraola in the first weeks of pre-season.
As his body has grown with age and gym work, he has looked more accomplished as an option in the No. 6 role and could feasibly serve as an alternative to Ryan Gravenberch.

But there is also the option of heading out on loan – and that seems the more realistic venture for Nyoni in the campaign ahead.
Liverpool blocked a mid-season exit amid interest from a number of clubs in Europe, but it remains to be seen whether the same stance will be taken as others circle this summer.
Newly promoted Coventry are among those linked along with Championship side Swansea, who are managed by former Liverpool coach Vitor Matos.
There will be no shortage of interest from the continent either, and it could prove a crucial decision if Nyoni is sent out on loan, as the wrong move could thwart his chances of returning as part of the first team.
Nyoni has been working in Morocco during the off-season and looks poised to grasp any opportunities that come his way next month.
