Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira has added his voice to the growing admiration surrounding Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, describing the teenager as “really impressive” amid increasing speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League.
Bouaddi, 18, has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in European football following a series of standout performances for Morocco at the 2026 World Cup. Arsenal are among several leading clubs tracking the midfielder, with Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich also credited with an interest in the Lille academy graduate.
Speaking while analysing Morocco’s World Cup campaign, Vieira praised Bouaddi’s maturity and composure despite his young age: “Really impressive, he’s only 18 but he plays like a 30-year-old.
“He’s got the tactical awareness, I think he’s always well positioned. He’s got the technical ability to play out from the back and a really strong personality.
“I quite like the midfield three from Morocco but, of course, he’s the talent in this team.”
Bouaddi’s stock has risen significantly during the World Cup. The midfielder earned widespread praise after an accomplished display against Brazil and has continued to impress with his ball retention, positioning and ability to dictate the tempo of matches. His performances have reinforced a reputation already established at Lille, where he has become a regular despite his age.
Competition for his signature is expected to be fierce. Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for the Morocco international, while PSG and Real Madrid are also monitoring his progress closely.
Several reports indicate Bouaddi is likely to assess his options once Morocco’s World Cup campaign concludes.
