Liverpool’s pursuit of Georgian wonderkid Andria Bartishvili has taken a fresh twist after the player appeared to deny that he has already reached an agreement with Arsenal – and did so in a way that will interest those at Anfield.
Earlier this Monday, well‑connected Georgian outlet GEO TEAM reported that Bartishvili has not agreed a move to Arsenal, despite mounting speculation that the Gunners were closing in on his signature.
Their update claimed three clubs are actively working on a deal for the 17‑year‑old: Arsenal, Liverpool and Paris FC.
According to the report, the offers from the two “English giants” are understood to be identical financially, with Paris FC instead attempting to lure the attacking midfielder by promising guaranteed first‑team minutes from the outset.
The suggestion is that Bartishvili and his camp will only make a final decision after he completes upcoming European qualification fixtures with current loan club FC Iberia 1999, where he has broken through in Georgia’s topflight this year.
What really set tongues wagging, though, was Bartishvili’s response.
The youngster reposted the original GEO TEAM report on his Instagram story, effectively amplifying the claim that there is no agreement in place with Arsenal yet.
In doing so, he appeared to publicly challenge suggestions elsewhere that the Gunners had already sealed a deal, aligning himself instead with the narrative that his future remains open.
For Liverpool, it’s telling social media move keeps the door firmly ajar. The Reds are understood to be “working on a deal” for Bartishvili.
He is viewed as among the brightest talents to emerge from Georgia in recent years, having already made double‑digit senior appearances and scored his first top‑flight goal this season.
With Arsenal pushing hard and Paris FC offering a different pathway, Liverpool will hope that the player’s denial of any existing agreement is a sign that their pitch is still very much in the running.
