Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has urged his old club to make a move for highly rated winger Yan Diomande, claiming the Red Devils should consider hijacking Liverpool’s reported pursuit of the young prospect during the summer transfer window.
Diomande has emerged as one of the most sought-after young talents in European football after an impressive breakthrough campaign with RB Leipzig. The winger Ivory Coast youth international has attracted significant attention from clubs across the continent, with Liverpool widely reported to be leading the race for his signature.
However, Saha believes Manchester United should not allow their fierce Premier League rivals a free run at the teenager. The former United forward has identified Diomande as the type of dynamic attacking player capable of fitting into the club’s long-term rebuilding plans and has encouraged decision-makers at Old Trafford to explore a potential deal.
“Man Utd should hijack Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande, definitely,” he told Casinolyze.co.uk. “This type of winger now dominates football.
“When you have that confidence and simplicity in your game, to dribble, pass, be physical, and be courageous, I love that.
“Those styles are amazing. I am pleased to see that kind of career because it was not easy starting in the US and now being a superstar. I think he can be a superstar like Lamine Yamal.”
Liverpool’s interest is understood to be at an advanced stage, with reports suggesting the Premier League champions have been closely monitoring the winger’s development throughout the past season.
The Merseyside club has built a reputation for identifying and developing young talent, and Diomande is believed to fit the profile of player Liverpool are targeting as part of their future planning.
Manchester United, meanwhile, continue to assess several attacking options as they reshape their squad ahead of the new campaign. While the club’s primary focus has been on strengthening multiple areas of the team, recruitment staff are also believed to be keeping a close eye on younger players with significant growth potential.
Sources close to the situation suggest Diomande’s future remains open despite Liverpool’s strong interest. Several clubs from England, Germany and Italy are reportedly tracking the teenager, meaning competition for his signature could intensify in the coming weeks.
