According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, former NFL linebacker Xavier Adibi is set to join head coach Deion Sanders' Colorado staff as a defensive assistant.
Adibi's connection to Colorado stems from first-year defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Chris Marve. As Virginia Tech's DC from 2022-24, Marve had Adibi on his staff as a defensive analyst (2022-23) and an associate linebackers coach (2024). Adibi stayed on with the Hokies this past season as their inside linebackers coach.
The 41-year-old Adibi played his college football at Virginia Tech, earning All-ACC honors twice and an All-American nod in 2007. He was inducted into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2021.
The Houston Texans selected Adibi in the fourth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. That fall, he totaled a career-high 35 tackles in seven games played, including five starts, as a rookie.
Adibi played two more seasons in Houston before brief stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Tennessee Titans.
After his playing days, Adibi was a defensive analyst at Arkansas in 2018 and the defensive coordinator at Texas A&M-Commerce from 2019-21. His 2021 unit ranked No. 5 nationally in scoring defense (13.2 points per game) at the Division II level.
