The Pittsburgh Steelers were patient with Aaron Rodgers again this offseason, and he repaid that by re-signing with them. He’s 42 years old, and he’s clearly lost a step, but he was still good enough in 2025 to help the Steelers win their division. Now, he’s reunited with head coach Mike McCarthy, looking to win a second Super Bowl together, this time in Pittsburgh. However, Rodgers’ legacy is already cemented. Even Tom Brady, arguably the best NFL player of all time, can’t deny Rodgers’ special talents.
“Love Aaron [Rodgers],” Brady said Monday on the Stick to Football podcast. “I think there’s no greater passer of the football than Aaron Rodgers… There’s certain people, you see everyone do it, and then you see one person throw the ball that much better. Aaron Rodgers was incredible.
“[It’s] hard to put into words how incredible he passes the ball. The way it comes out of his hand, the way that it spins and delivers with the pace and with the accuracy… There’s only probably three people in the history of the NFL that could do it like him.”
It’s important to note that Brady chooses his words carefully. He doesn’t think that Rodgers is the best quarterback ever. He simply believes that Rodgers has the greatest arm talent that the league has ever seen.
That’s still incredibly high praise, though. There’s a lot of evidence to back up Brady’s claim, too. Rodgers had plenty of unbelievable throws in his prime. Just look at some of the Hail Mary passes he completed during his time with the Green Bay Packers.
While Rodgers is past his prime, that doesn’t mean he’s completely washed up. His arm talent still looks as advertised. When he wasn’t getting rid of the ball quickly, Rodgers had some huge throws with the Steelers last year. His athleticism might be dwindling, but his arm strength shouldn’t be doubted.
Few quarterbacks can still rip the ball downfield at that level into their 40s. Brady has had the most success at that age, winning a Super Bowl and even throwing for over 5,000 yards. Still, even his arm looked like it was starting to decline during his final season.
When Brady talks about quarterbacks, especially those he played against, it’s important to listen. There aren’t many players who have accomplished as much or played as long as Brady. For him to compliment Rodgers like that says a lot. We’ll see if the four-time MVP’s arm still has some juice in it this year, though. Rodgers might not be as good as he once was, but he could be as good once as he ever was.
