David de Gea could be facing an uncertain future at Fiorentina despite establishing himself as one of the club’s most important players since arriving in Italy.

The former Manchester United goalkeeper has repeatedly been linked with a return to England in recent months.

Earlier this year, reports suggested De Gea would only consider leaving Fiorentina if Manchester United came calling, while Newcastle United have also been credited with an interest.

Now, fresh developments have emerged regarding the Spaniard’s future.

According to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb, Fiorentina are preparing for changes in their goalkeeping department as Fabio Paratici continues shaping plans for the club ahead of the new season.

The report explains that goalkeeping coach Alessandro Filippi is set to arrive at Fiorentina.

He previously worked with some of football’s most recognisable names, including Gianluigi Buffon and Mike Maignan.

Fiorentina open to De Gea sale

While David de Gea remains a key figure at Fiorentina, the report claims the club are willing to consider offers for the 35-year-old this summer.

The experienced goalkeeper enjoyed a successful return to football after spending a year away from the game following his departure from Manchester United in 2023.

Since moving to Italy on a free transfer, De Gea has re-established himself as one of Serie A’s most reliable goalkeepers and become a fan favourite in Florence.

However, speculation surrounding his future has continued to grow.

Juventus have recently been linked with the veteran shot-stopper, while Newcastle have also reportedly monitored his situation as they assess options in the transfer market.

De Gea spent 12 years at Manchester United, making 545 appearances and winning the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

Although a return to United currently appears unlikely, his future remains one to watch.

For now, TuttoMercatoWeb report that Fiorentina are open to the possibility of a sale should a suitable proposal arrive during the summer transfer window.
