Dallas Cowboys cornerback Shavon Revel Jr. suffered an ACL tear in September 2024 during his final season at East Carolina, which caused him to fall to the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Revel later experienced a setback in late July, which led to him missing the first ten games of his rookie season. Upon returning, he showed rust after not playing a single game for nearly a year and a half, allowing a 74% completion percentage, 331 passing yards, and a 126.1 passer rating across 38 targets.
Now fully healthy and with the full offseason to work with, Shavon Revel has an opportunity to show why many projected him as a first-round pick prior to the injury. He will compete against Cobie Durant for the starting outside cornerback job alongside DaRon Bland.

During last week’s press conference, Shavon Revel Jr. reflected on his rough rookie season and his goals for 2026 and beyond, as reported by Nick Harris of The Fort Worth Star-Telegram. The promising cornerback said he didn’t feel like himself last season and that his mindset is that if he can still run, he’ll play and help the team, with winning his main focus. Revel also added that his goal is to become the best cornerback in the league someday and expressed confidence in achieving it.
“I did not feel like myself,” Revel said, via Harris. “I just had that heart and grit to go out there. If I can still run, I’m going to go play. It’s all about what you can put in for the team.
“I don’t want to do too much overthinking, but my main goal is to obviously be the best player I can be and the best teammate I can be. Cleaning up a few things that I had a few errors on last year. I’m taking it slow and just taking it day-by-day.
“I am going to be, someday, the best cornerback in the league,” Revel added. “That’s just how I look at it, and I have the confidence to say it. At the end of the day, I got to work.”
Christian Parker believes Revel has the tools needed to be an elite cornerback
“Football means a lot to him and he wants to work hard at it, so I think that’s where it starts,” Parker said regarding Revel at his introductory press conference. “He has that built in his mind. Physically, his traits — the height, the speed, the power — he has all of that. So now it’s about just working form the neck up in terms of how the position needs to be played.”
