George Kittle says he’s running 16 mph in his rehab

49ers tight end George Kittle has targeted a Week 1 return since tearing his right Achilles in a Jan. 11 playoff game against the Eagles.

Less than three months from the season opener, Kittle is on track to do just that.

“I got a run today, hit over [16 miles an hour](https://www.49erswebzone.com/articles/201208-reaches-new-milestone-achilles-recovery/),” Kittle said on the Pardon My Take podcast over the weekend, via David Bonilla of 49erswebzone.com. “That was pretty sick.”

Kittle said the workout was held in cleats on a field, another positive sign in his return.

“I’m 21 weeks out, and I’m running over 16 miles an hour, so I’m having a great time,” Kittle said. “Single-leg box jumps. We’re cutting again. We’re having some fun.”

Kittle made a seventh career Pro Bowl last season despite playing only 11 regular-season games due to hamstring and ankle injuries.
