Southampton reject £20m bid for Shea Charles

Shea Charles has established himself as one of Southampton’s most important players and the Championship club appear determined not to sell him cheaply.
The Northern Ireland international has earned praise for his composure on the ball, defensive intelligence and ability to operate in several midfield roles.

Yesterday, it was revealed that Leeds United had submitted an offer worth around £20 million for the midfielder.
Negotiations are expected to continue despite Southampton’s initial rejection.
The latest update suggests discussions are still active, although the Saints are holding out for a considerably higher fee.
Manchester United’s own midfield plans remain separate from the situation.
The Red Devils have already reached an agreement with Atalanta for Ederson and continue to assess further additions in the middle of the park.
Reports have suggested United would still like to add at least one more midfielder this summer.
Whether Charles becomes a serious option remains to be seen.
