**West Ham are reportedly interested in signing Dwight McNeil.**
That’s according to ExWHUEmployee, who reports that the Everton winger is a player West Ham would like to sign, should he be willing to drop down a division.
McNeil has been playing on Merseyside since 2022, when he made a €17 million move from Burnley. In four seasons, he has contributed to 34 goals in 128 appearances. The 26-year-old registered just one assist in 22 league appearances last season – a pitiful return, in truth.
But McNeil’s game has never been defined by goal contributions. Despite his slightly underwhelming numbers, the Everton man has spent his career in the Premier League and could be a great addition to Nuno Espírito Santo’s side in the Championship.
The 26-year-old has a wicked left foot and hasn’t always been blessed with prolific strikers to feed – especially at Everton. Additionally, his tendency to attack down the left flank and cross with his left foot contrasts nicely with Jarrod Bowen’s tendency to cut inside from the right.
He would also come at a potentially lucrative price. With his contract due to expire next summer, the Hammers could pick him up relatively cheaply. Furthermore, his reported weekly wage of only £25,000 would be well within West Ham’s budget. As far as Premier League transfer targets go, the Irons could do far worse than the former Burnley man.
It’s looking increasingly likely that Crysencio Summerville will leave the Irons this summer. McNeil may not be as flashy as the Dutchman or the most glamorous replacement, but he would be a solid second-tier winger with plenty of top-flight experience.
