Former Blackpool loanee Morgan Rogers was among those involved, with the 23-year-old being introduced off the bench.

The Aston Villa man is among several Seasiders players who have gone on to represent England after a stint at Bloomfield Road.

Here’s more on some of the standout names:

Emlyn Hughes started his senior playing career with Blackpool, representing the Seasiders between 1964 and 1967, before joining Liverpool - where he became a legend at Anfield.

Two years after his Bloomfield Road departure, the versatile figure was handed his England debut.

He would ultimately represent the Three Lions on 62 occasions.

Trevor Sinclair progressed through the youth ranks at Blackpool, before featuring for the first-team between 1989 and 1993, with his outings including the 1992 Fourth Division play-off victory over Scunthorpe United.

Following his Bloomfield Road departure, the winger spent five years with QPR, before joining West Ham United.

It was during his time in East London that the ex-Seasiders man earned his England call-ups with 12 caps coming his way between 2001 and 2003.

Four of Sinclair’s Three outings came at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.

Joe Hart established himself as England’s first-choice goalkeeper several years, with 75 international caps coming his way in total - which includes four major tournaments.

The 39-year-old’s first outing for the Three Lions came in 2008, which was just a year after a stint with Blackpool.

Hart made the move to Bloomfield Road from Manchester City at the back end of the 2006/07 campaign to provide cover, and made five appearances for the Seasiders in total.

Jonjo Shelvey

Another Blackpool loanee that went on to represent England was Jonjo Shelvey.

The midfielder made the move to the Fylde Coast from Liverpool in 2011, with six goals and three assists coming his way in 10 outings.

The following year, Shelvey made his Three Lions debut, and featured six times in total.

As previously mentioned, Rogers is the current ex-Blackpool player in Tuchel’s squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Just three years ago, the attacker endured an ill-fated loan stint at Bloomfield Road, with the Seasiders suffering relegation from the Championship.

His time in Tangerine saw him post one goal and one assist in 22 outings, as he worked under Michael Appleton, Mick McCarthy and Stephen Dobbie.

The spell on the Fylde Coast ultimately brought an end to his time on the books of Manchester City, with the Citizens selling him to Middlesbrough after spending the previous seasons on loan with Lincoln City and AFC Bournemouth.

It was while at the Riverside Stadium, the youngster caught the eye of Villa.

After scoring seven goals and providing nine assists for the North Yorkshire outfit in the Championship, Rogers was snapped up by Unai Emery’s side - where he has proven to be a sensation.

In 125 appearances for Villa so far, he has found the back of the net 31 times and provided 29 assists - with four of his goals coming in last season’s Champions League.

His most recent strike came in Villa’s 3-0 victory over Freiburg to lift the Europa League last month, as he became the youngest Englishman since Steven Gerrard to score in a major European final.
