Arizona Cardinals: Jeremiyah Love is Okay with Splitting Carries for 2026 Season

When the Arizona Cardinals drafted running back Jeremiyah Love with the third pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, they hoped they had found their next franchise star. The running back position has a shorter shelf life than the majority of NFL positions, but Jeremiyah Love has showcased his ability to be a special talent while with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He has been a player who has shared snaps with other running backs, but the Arizona Cardinals have some running backs who should see the field and get the football. Let’s take a closer look at his recent comments regarding his potential usage for the team this upcoming season.

While speaking to the team’s website on Monday, running back Jeremiyah Love made it known that he is okay with not being a bellcow running back in the NFL.

“Just being in the big leagues, all the pressure is not going to be on me. We can split some carries, if need be, which I always like. You don’t need just one guy going out there and getting, what, 30 carries a game. We’ve got 21 games this season potentially, so that’s not going to be too good in the long run. But I love being around guys that are great at football.”

Of course, Jeremiyah Love did not get all of the rushing attempts last season with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, splitting carries with fellow first-round pick Jadarian Price. He would record 199 carries for 1,372 yards (6.9 yards per attempt) with 18 rushing touchdowns as well as 27 receptions for 280 yards (10.4 yards per catch) with three receiving touchdowns during the 2025 college football season. Love never had more than 24 rushing attempts in a single game, so it is understandable that he is okay with not having 30+ carries each game.

Love is expected to be one of the top running backs in the National Football League, the second he gets on the field in an NFL game. The Arizona Cardinals have a good running back room right now with Jeremiyah Love, Tyer Allgeier, James Conner, Trey Benson, Bam Knight, and Corey Kiner. It will be intriguing to see how Jeremiyah Love looks in his rookie season, as he has a significant chance to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award.
