Two months ago, Sport Witness relayed news that there’s a strong chance for Leandro Trossard to leave Arsenal this summer.
The Belgium international, who was a regular for Arsenal towards the end of the season, needs his future sorting out.
Beşiktaş have shown interest in the forward, who is now at the World Cup.
Earlier this month, Sport Witness covered claims from Turkey that Beşiktaş president Serdal Adalı has made official contact with the Gunners.
The Istanbul club are willing to offer €20m to Arsenal and a €7m per year salary to the 31-year-old.
Saudi competition to sign Arsenal player
Leandro Trossard played the full 90 minutes in Belgium’s 1-1 draw against Egypt and the goalless draw against Iran. Behind the scenes, there are movements to take him away from the Emirates.
That’s according to Monday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg, who covers Al-Diraiyah FC’s interest in the forward. They have secured a promotion to the top flight after winning the second division this season.
The Saudi club want to further strengthen their squad and have identified the Arsenal player as an attacking target.
To convince the former Brighton & Hove Albion man, Al-Diraiyah are offering him a ‘massive salary’ of around €10m per year.
They are also offering €20m to Mikel Arteta’s side. This would allow them to recoup the money invested to sign him in January 2023.
There are ‘no obstacles’ at the club level, indicating the bid is tempting for the Gunners.
It’s now down to Al-Diraiyah to convince the attacker to get the deal over the line. HBVL makes no mention of Trossard’s stance on moving to the Middle East, especially when there’s interest from Turkey.
Our take: Arsenal should sell this summer
Leandro Trossard will turn 32 years of age later this December and has a contract until 2027, with an option for another year.
If Arsenal activate the one-year clause, they are unlikely to collect €20m for the Belgium next summer. Transfermarkt now value him at €18m.
Therefore, it’s best for both parties to part ways this summer. It allows the player to start a new experience, and his sale can bring in more funds to the Gunners.
