Arsenal make major medical staff change–Highly rated specialist arriving from La Liga

Arsenal are planning to overhaul their medical department to optimise injury management.

The Gunners saw 19 of their players miss at least one match due to injury during their title winning season.

Recent claims from the UK have stated Arsenal want to part ways with Dr Zaf Iqbal and replace him with Aston Villa’s head doctor Arnaldo Abrantes.

There’s likely to be more changes in the medical department this summer.

Eneko Angulo on his way to Arsenal

The latest claims from Spain state Eneko Angulo will join the Premier League winners.

He started as Real Betis youth team’s rehabilitation specialist 12 years ago. Over the years, he climbed through the ranks and has been with the La Liga side’s first team since 2024, replacing David Álvarez.

ABC Sevilla report Angulo will soon sign for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Andalusian club have confirmed their head of medical services, José Manuel Álvarez, is stepping down for personal reasons.

On Monday, Angulo took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to say goodbye to Manuel Pellegrini’s side.

The newspaper state he will join the Gunners, who have proposed a ‘lucrative offer’. His exit is a significant loss for the Spanish club.

Estadio Deportivo also reports of the rehabilitation specialist’s impending move to the Emirates.

Angulo initially started as an intern at Real Betis and has grown to become a ‘top-level professional’. Estadio reports proof of this is the tempting proposal from the north London club, and it’s one he can’t refuse.

The newspaper states: ‘Real Betis no longer just makes money by selling players developed in their youth academy. Now they are also exporting medical professionals.’

Angulo to reunite with Real Betis soon

The English champions face Real Betis in a pre-season friendly in Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on August 5th.

Eneko Angulo could come up against his former employer in the coming weeks.
