West Ham winger Crysencio Summerville was considered by Liverpool earlier in 2026, but the Dutchman has now been ruled out as a summer signing.

Liverpool have shelved any interest in Summerville, with no progress made in their work on the Netherlands international’s situation at West Ham.

The club are instead targeting other wingers as they look to replace Mohamed Salah and add to £34.5 million signing Victor Munoz.

The Athletic‘s James Pearce reports that Liverpool held an interest in Summerville earlier in the year but the landscape has now changed.

RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande is the club’s priority target, while Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola is admired and background work has conducted on Brighton‘s Yankuba Minteh, Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Koln’s Said El Mala.

Summerville will almost certainly move this summer after West Ham‘s relegation to the Championship and could be available for a reasonable fee.

But despite the 24-year-old’s obvious talents he will not be bringing those to Liverpool, with Man United instead among his suitors this summer.

Did sacking Arne Slot end Crysencio Summerville interest?

The cooling of Liverpool’s interest in Summerville is intriguing as it seems to have coincided with the sacking of countryman Arne Slot.

He is also believed to have favoured a deal for Dutch right-back Denzel Dumfries, who had been a target both in January and heading into the summer, but any efforts to sign him were also dropped to allow Real Madrid to swoop in.

Lutsharel Geertruida, still Slot’s most-used player throughout a 10-year coaching career, had come close to joining mid-season and there were suggestions he could become an option again.

While it would be reductive to claim any interest in Dutch players was led by Slot himself, his knowledge of the market would certainly have influenced those targeted.

Similarly, it was Andoni Iraola who pushed for a deal for Spanish winger Munoz, who had already been discussed in meetings among Liverpool’s recruitment staff.

Iraola flagged the 22-year-old as a preferred signing in early conversations with sporting director Richard Hughes, having been aware of his talents as an avid watcher of LaLiga who previously coached CD Mirandes and Rayo Vallecano.

Diomande was subject of an unsuccessful offer of €100 million (£86.3m) earlier this month and Liverpool are set to return with a new bid in the coming days.

Leipzig value the Ivorian at closer to €130 million (£112.1m) and the hope is that the two clubs can eventually reach a compromise on terms.
