William Gomes is attracting attention from Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United, having grown in stature at FC Porto.
The versatile winger scored eight times in the Portuguese top-flight in the 2025/26 campaign. It was his first full season with the team, and he also found the net four times in the Europa League.
The Brazilian joined Porto from Sao Paulo in January 2025, with the Portuguese giants paying only €9m for the deal.
His value has grown multiple times. Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United are in the race for his signature, with Porto demanding a significant amount for a sale.
Suitors lining up
ASRomaLive report that the line of suitors for William Gomes has increased in the last few months.
Atletico Madrid are interested and so are Juventus and Roma. For now, the Italian clubs haven’t gone beyond a simple request for information for the 20-year-old Brazilian.
Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United are also in the race, with the talent having an €80m release clause.
Porto are aware not club is paying €80m, so their demand stands at €45m, which can make a deal affordable for the English clubs. If any offers below that amount arrive, Porto won’t even sit at the negotiating table.
Clubs should wait
As this was Gomes’ only first full season at Porto, he has a lot to do in Portugal. That is why he probably needs to spend another campaign with them before possibly seeking an exit.
That should be the stance of the clubs too. Signing him right away would pose a risk, especially as the winger has never played beyond the U17s level for Brazil either.
Porto know that Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle United will keep an eye on the talent. They are under no pressure to sell and there is every chance his value grows closer to the release clause amount by 2027.
