Liverpool has got four transfer alternatives in mind as it steps up its pursuit of Yan Diomande this summer.

The Ivory Coast star is the Reds’ primary target in the transfer window, with his stock rising as he impresses at the World Cup. Liverpool has already told RB Leipzig it would be willing to do a deal for around $115 million (€100M), although that offer is understood to have been rejected.

The Bundesliga club is eager to tie Diomande down to an improved deal, although the winger has dropped several hints that he is open to a move away after a superb debut season in Germany.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool is now weighing up whether to return with a higher bid for the 19-year-old, but also has a number of other options under consideration should it not be able to reach an agreement with Leipzig.

The report confirms that Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh, Cologne’s Said El Mala and Lille’s Matias Fernandez-Pardo are all being looked at, with the trio having been previously touted elsewhere.

There has also been some interest in West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville, although nothing has progressed on that front, while Liverpool is also said to admire Paris Saint-Germain’s Bradley Barcola, who has been linked with a move to the Reds and Arsenal.

The pursuit of Diomande is far from over though, despite Leipzig wanting to extend his current contract. It’s claimed that the German club would consider a higher bid in excess of $148 million (€130M).

Diomande has not yet made a final decision on his future, although he did seem to leave the door open to a move to England, which could encourage Liverpool.

"Would I be open to the Premier League? I don't know," Diomande said last week. "I am an RB Leipzig player, but why not? My agents will sort that out.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.

"As for me I am more focused on the World Cup, that's the most important thing. It doesn't happen all the time, it's only every four years, so I am making the most of it and for the rest, we'll see."

Liverpool.com says: Diomande should still be the focus for Liverpool - it’s just a question of whether it can stretch to that $148M figure while leaving enough room to sign other players this summer, given there are a number of areas to work on.

With PSG lurking, the Reds may have to decide soon, although if Diomande ended up going to Paris, that could end up opening the door to Barcola, who feels as though he would be the next best option.
