Manchester United are on high alert as Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is reportedly available this summer.
After securing the services of Atalanta’s Ederson, the Premier League giants are searching the market for their second midfield reinforcement.
While Mateus Fernandes has been identified as their top target, West Ham’s £80 million price tag could force Man Utd to pursue other profiles, especially if cheaper and more accomplished stars are available.
Real Madrid open to selling Aurelien Tchouameni amid Man Utd interest
Over the past few weeks, Tchouameni has been steadily rising on United’s shortlist. The 26-year-old is a holding midfielder who replaced Casemiro at Real Madrid when the latter was sold to MUFC in the summer of 2022.
The French international has been a mainstay at the Stadio Bernabeu ever since. However, his relationship with the club hit rock bottom following a troublesome 2025/26 campaign that culminated in a stunning training-ground fight that sent Federico Valverde to the hospital.

At this stage, many observers feel the two midfielders cannot be fully reconciled, so Jose Mourinho’s court is only big enough for one of them.
According to Italian journalist Gianluigi Longori, Real Madrid have made their decision, and they’re now willing to offload Tchouameni, at least if they were to receive an appropriate offer.
“Real Madrid are open to considering the departure of Aurélien Tchouaméni,” posted the Sportitalia correspondent on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
“The midfielder would like to stay, but Los Blancos are willing to entertain offers for his transfer. Manchester United have expressed a strong interest to Tchouaméni’s representatives.”

Why Tchouameni can the best solution for Man United
As reported earlier today, Carrington insider Sully claimed that United would be the frontrunners for Tchouameni should he be placed on the transfer list.
Therefore, the stars could finally line up for the Red Devils to seal what would be one of the biggest moves of the summer.
While Mateus Fernandes represents the future, Tchouameni already has invaluable experience under his belt at the biggest stage. At the age of 26, many would argue he has yet to hit the peak of his powers.
Moreover, Man Utd are in dire need of a new holding midfielder following Casemiro’s departure, and Tchouameni would seamlessly plunge into the role, thanks to his ‘extraordinary technical and physical quality’, as Paul Pogba put it.
The former Monaco star still has two years left on his contract with Los Merengues, and his value is believed to be around £60 million.
