Arsenal legend Paul Merson is hoping his former club sign at least one left winger this summer.

West Ham’s Crysencio Summerville and Bradley Barcola have both been mentioned as possible targets, and Merson said he’d back moves for either player:
“When you look at the transfer market, there are options out there. Someone like Summerville has been terrific.”
“He’s played well for West Ham and started really well at the World Cup for the Netherlands. He’d certainly be the kind of player profile that Arsenal should be looking at.”
“I like (Bradley) Barcola from PSG as well. Martinelli’s done well, and Trossard’s a good footballer, but I just think they need that winger who is going to scare the opposition.”
Summerville would be the cheaper of the two
The Athletic have reported that West Ham would sanction the sale of Summerville for around £50m this summer, but other teams (including Manchester United and Tottenham) are also said to be interested in the Netherlands international.
Barcola, meanwhile, is expected to cost around double that amount. PSG are believed to be value him as highly as RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, so a bid of £100m or more may be required to secure the 23-year-old’s signature.

Will Arsenal sell Martinelli and Trossard?
A lot will depend on the offers that are received, but Martinelli is more likely to stay due to his contract situation. His current deal does expire next summer, but the Gunners have an option to extend it for another twelve months.
There is no such option in Trossard’s contract, so if Mikel Arteta’s side want to raise significant funds from his sale, they will need to offload him before the transfer window shuts. Recent reports suggest that a bid from a Saudi Pro League club could be in the offing.
