Liverpool may have just priced themselves out of transfer fee – High demands see deal drift

Inter Milan’s negotiations with Liverpool over Curtis Jones have slowed down at this moment in time over a disagreement of his valuation.

Corriere dello Sport report that Inter are taking negotiations over new signings this summer slowly, and that includes their efforts for the Liverpool midfielder.

What do Liverpool want?

According to the newspaper, while Inter have made it clear to Liverpool that they intend to increase their bid for the 25-year-old, the Reds demands are very high.

They are currently asking for more than €30m and a percentage of any future transfer fee. That’s despite the fact that Curtis Jones’ deal has just a year left on it. He’s also made it clear that he has no intention of renewing at Anfield.

Inter Milan for the time being, are stuck at €20m. Sport Witness have covered reports recently that the Italian side were set at that price while Liverpool were asking for €30m. Now the Reds appear to have added the percentage on top of their demands.

Inter won’t rush negotiations

Inter don’t intend to rush. They are hopeful that as time goes on Liverpool may soften their stance given his contract situation. The belief is that the Reds might be open to a compromise.

They’re taking a wait and see approach to the whole affair. Another meeting is planned between the two clubs to try and work out a solution.

In the meantime, Inter are using the time to focus on other matters. They are not panicking in any way, shape or form.

That, perhaps, should act as a warning to Liverpool. They risk pricing themselves out of a deal because of their asking price already. It’s seen the deal drift as it is and Inter aren’t rushing to meet their demands either.

Perhaps the two sides will come closer in the coming weeks. Inter, it seems, will use time to their advantage to put pressure on Liverpool.
