Leeds United’s return to the Premier League in the 2025/26 season was initially met with widespread skepticism, with many tipping Daniel Farke’s side for an immediate drop back to the Championship.
However, the Yorkshire club defied expectations, showing resilience to secure their top-flight status.
With the club determined not to flirt with relegation again, attention has quickly turned to strengthening the squad ahead of the new campaign. Attacking reinforcements appear high on the agenda and a familiar name has emerged as a key target.
Leeds United is now reportedly “in positive talks” with representatives of former Liverpool winger Harry Wilson according to the Athletic, as they look to secure the Wales international on a free transfer.
The Welsh international spent the best part of 16 years within the club’s academy system before eventually departing permanently for Fulham in the summer of 2021.
He made just two senior appearances for the Reds, with the bulk of his development coming through a series of loan spells at Derby County, Bournemouth, and Cardiff City.
Wilson’s current deal with Fulham is set to expire at the end of June, meaning he will officially become a free agent on July 1.
The 29-year-old enjoyed an impressive Premier League campaign last season, registering 10 goals and 7 assists in 36 Premier League appearances.
Fulham have confirmed that they have offered Wilson a new contract in an attempt to retain his services. However, uncertainty remains over whether he will commit his future to Craven Cottage or pursue a new challenge elsewhere.
A move to Elland Road is not a new concept. Leeds came close to landing Wilson on deadline day last summer, only for the deal to collapse at the final hurdle.
Now, with the player available on a free transfer, the opportunity has resurfaced – and this time, there is growing optimism that an agreement could be reached.
