Everton could be set to make a healthy profit on Tim Iroegbunam this summer, with reports from the Hull Daily Mail suggesting Hull City are lining up a £20m move for the 22-year-old midfielder.
According to journalist Barry Cooper, the Tigers are looking to inject pace and power into their ranks ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester United. They reportedly view the European Under-19 Championship winner as an ideal addition to their midfield.
With only one year remaining on his current deal at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, the Blues are understood to be open to letting the Birmingham-born talent leave, provided interested parties meet the club’s asking price.
Since joining Everton from Aston Villa two years ago for an initial £9m, Iroegbunam has been a regular feature under David Moyes. The dynamic midfielder made 29 Premier League appearances last season, building on the 18 he tallied during his first year on Merseyside.
While Hull are reportedly comfortable with the £20m valuation, Everton’s asking price might see some negotiation given his expiring contract status.
However, the Blues could still benefit from a potential bidding war. Newly-promoted Ipswich Town are also credited with an interest in the former QPR loanee, who reportedly came close to leaving the club back in January when Everton rejected a bid from Lazio.
