"What I can say..."- Fabrizio Romano has now handed Liverpool big transfer boost

Fabrizio Romano has provided a key update regarding Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola’s future, and it acts as a boost for Liverpool.

The Frenchman has emerged as one of the Reds’ main attacking transfer targets, along with RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast star Yan Diomande.

It recently reported that Liverpool are willing to sign both players in big-money deals, as they look to transform their wide options.

Now, speaking on YouTube [via TEAMtalk], Romano has said that contract talks between Barcola and PSG are “completely on standby”, acting as a positive for the Reds:

“Bradley Barcola is on Arsenal’s shortlist for sure, he’s one of the wingers appreciated, but Barcola is also on the list at Liverpool. Liverpool keep a close eye on the situation of Barcola. They like the player, he was on the shortlist in 2025 and remains on the shortlist in 2026.

“The feeling on this story is that it’s absolutely open at the moment. Depending also [on] what Paris Saint-Germain want to do. What I can say on Barcola, based on all the rumours that Barcola will stay at PSG, he won’t go anywhere… it’s important to clarify that to my understanding at the moment, the negotiations between PSG and Barcola over a new contract are completely, completely on standby.

“PSG and Barcola are not advancing on any deal, and that is why his situation remains one to watch in this summer transfer window, according to my information. Let’s see what happens with Liverpool, with Arsenal, and eventually with more clubs.”

Bradley Barcola can be Liverpool’s next great left winger

Barcola is such a potent attacking player, with blistering pace from the left flank and ever-improving end product, scoring in France’s 3-1 win over Senegal at the 2026 World Cup.

Cody Gakpo is a good player, but Liverpool need to do better at finding a regular starter on the left, signing someone who can reach the heights Sadio Mane did during his world-class spell at Anfield.

Barcola could prove to be that figure, and if Liverpool do end up with both him and Diomande this summer, their attack will suddenly look so much more fierce, especially as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak should improve, too.
